Privacy Policy
Last updated August 3, 2026.
We run a small Texas driver education guidance site. We collect the minimum we need to give you an accurate checklist and to tell you when Texas changes its rules.
What we collect
- Email address — only when you type it into a form to join the Texas update list.
- Your answers — your teen's age band, whether you want the parent-taught or online course path, and where you are in the process.
- A visitor ID — a random identifier stored in your browser so we can tell one visit from another and resume your checklist.
- Usage events — pages viewed, steps completed, buttons clicked, the page that referred you, and your browser's user-agent string.
We do not ask for your teen's name, birth date, address, school, license number, or any government identifier. Please don't send them to us.
Why we collect it
To generate your checklist, to email you when Texas requirements change (if you asked us to), and to understand which parts of the site actually help families. That's it.
Who we share it with
Our hosting and database provider, which stores this data on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with course providers.
When you click through to a course provider, that provider sees a normal web visit, including the fact that you came from us. We may earn a commission on enrollments. We never pass your email address or answers along with that click.
Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage for your visitor ID, your saved checklist answers, and which version of the homepage you saw. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
Update-list emails are kept until you ask us to remove them. Usage events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted.
Your choices, including deletion
Email hello@jesustakethewheel.app with the subject "Data request" to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're a California resident, the same address covers your requests to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing — and we don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.
Children
This site is written for parents and guardians, not for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Material changes to how we use your email address will be sent to the update list before they take effect.
